About Ravel Realms

The Ravel Realms Process

    Step 1: Idea and Inspiration

Each masterpiece at Ravel Realms is born from a spark of imagination, blossoming into a captivating narrative. Our founder, Leila Larsen, doesn’t just create oil paintings; she crafts entire universes, brimming with color and emotion. These vibrant realms serve as the genesis of inspiration. Then, harnessing the power of unique color combinations, vibrant dyes are added to luxury merino wool. Experience the magic where every thread tells a fairy tale.

  • Ravel Realms was conceived by Leila Larsen out of a love for art, knitting, and crocheting, role-playing games, and the pursuit of creative expression.

  • I dedicate countless hours to painting visions on canvas that transcend the ordinary. These masterpieces become the spark to dye my exclusive yarn hues.

  • Leaving Corporate America as a marketing manager, I took a leap of faith to feed my creative passions by making Ravel Realms my full-time mission.

My wish is for you to immerse yourself in realms of fantasy with painted canvases and the luxury of my hand-dyed yarn. Let it inspire the heart of your imagination as you knit your own story.

  • Phelicity

The Phoenix is a mythical bird with origins stemming from ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman mythology and is said to have lived for several centuries before igniting itself in flames and being reborn from its ashes.

It is often portrayed as a symbol of hope, resilience, and transformation, with its fiery rebirth representing the ability to overcome adversity, it emerges stronger than before.

    Origins of Purple Dye

Purple dye's story begins with the Phoenicians, an ancient civilization that inhabited the coastal regions of the eastern Mediterranean, particularly in present-day Lebanon.

They discovered a remarkable source of purple dye from a species of sea snail known as Murex trunculus. Extracting dye from these mollusks resulted in a color, known as Tyrian purple or royal purple, was highly prized for its vibrant hue and resistance to fading.

It symbolized power, prestige, and authority, due to the labor-intensive nature of its production, and became associated with royalty, nobility, religious leaders, and the wealthy-class in various ancient civilizations, including the Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans.
